Children's Christmas Present Appeal

Providing support at Christmas

Give a gift and light up a life! Your support is, and always will be, most welcome and much appreciated.

Many Livery Companies, and other organisations which hold Carol Services in St James Garlickhythe, invite their members and guests to place gifts for disadvantaged children under the Christmas tree.  The gifts are later collected by the Salvation Army and distributed to deserving children on or near Christmas Eve.

It may be that Covid-19 restrictions prevent us holding the Company Carol Service this year.  If we can go ahead,  you may not able to attend St James Garlickhythe, or maybe you just don’t have the time to arrange a suitable present as Christmas can be a very busy time.   You are therefore invited to donate an amount to this appeal instead.

With ALL the funds raised we will buy a selection of children’s presents which will then be wrapped and placed beneath the tree in St James Garlickhythe church in time for the Company Carol Service.  If the service doesn’t go ahead, the presents will be collected directly from Vintners’ Hall by the Salvation Army.

Naturally, we will also be organising our very popular ‘wrapping day’ in December to which members and friends are invited and festive refreshments and lunch will be served!  A fun and very sociable occasion.  Covid precautions will be in place at Vintners’ Hall but it is hoped this will not deter from what is always a very enjoyable and satisfying occasion.

Your donation would be very much appreciated and will allow for the best possible contribution from Members of the Vintners’ Company to this very worthy cause.

Presents may be an unaffordable luxury to even more families this year and in light of this The Vintners’ Foundation will match fund all donations received in order to reach even more children

Let’s see if we can beat last year’s total!  Thank you.

A message from our Chaplain

“Christmas is the season that teaches human beings that we should never think less of ourselves but, instead, think of ourselves a bit less. Here’s your opportunity! The work of the Salvation Army alongside the homeless and vulnerable of an often indifferent city is well known – and it is up to us to keep it that way.  Please, Vintners, give generously…”
